Tate McRae Performs Covered in Gold at Lollapalooza 2026

Tate McRae turns wet metallic gold into more than a stage effect, merging a fitted performance look, movement and light into one startling image.

Tate McRae did not simply wear gold for her performance of “Sports Car” at Lollapalooza on August 2, 2026. The metallic coating extends across her arms, torso and fitted stage clothes, nearly erasing the boundary between costume and performer. What remains is a single reflective figure designed to register instantly against the black stage.

The clothes are still faintly readable beneath the wet surface. A compact upper section retains its curved shape and narrow lower band, while the trousers reveal a defined waistband, pockets and full-length legs. On Tate McRae’s gold-painted performance look, liquid gathers around those seams and edges, turning familiar garment details into irregular ridges, trails and drips.
